Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Femtoplay, hosting, advertising, payments and more.

Femtoplay is an out-of-home billboard management solution. It consists of:
  1. A digital display: any electronic display containing our ad player and embedded proof-of-display mechanism.
  2. A technology platform: a large collection of hardware and software infrastructure that connects all the different pieces. You don't see this directly.
  3. A free campaign management web portal: use our web portal for advanced ad campaigns.
  4. A free mobile app: a single app that lets you manage your billboards and your advertisements.

Any person (or entity) that installs a digital display, attaches the ad player and related accessories, and then lists the display on our platform for others to place ads on, is a host. The host offers a billboard to advertisers for placing ads.

Any person (or entity) that places an advertisement on one or more of our listed billboards is an advertiser. The advertisement is placed using our mobile app.

Once you make a billboard available in our listing for advertisers to place ads, you are responsible for:
  1. Ensuring you comply with all laws and regulations applicable to this activity.
  2. Ensuring the billboard is installed, maintained and operated safely.
  3. Ensuring the billboard is available as per the timings mentioned in the listing.
  4. Acting promptly on advertisement requests. You must approve all advertisements before they will be displayed. Unapproved advertisements will not be displayed.
  5. Keeping your tax information current and accurate at all times.

As an advertiser, you are responsible for:
  1. Complying with all laws and regulations applicable to this activity.
  2. Adhering to the content guidelines in our Terms.
  3. Giving adequate time to the host for approval of your advertisement.
  4. Ensuring your payment methods are current, accurate and have sufficient funds.
  5. Keeping your tax information current and accurate at all times.

Billboard advertisements are divided into time slots. You can book 15-minute slots via the mobile app. Using the web portal, you can book slots that run for 10 seconds in a 60-second loop. Other play durations and loop times are available too. Need something custom? We can do that — just get in touch.

Up to you! We work with all budget types.

We support JPG, PNG, WEBP and GIF formats (less than 5 MB). Ads in these formats can be uploaded directly from the mobile app. GIF images must be less than 200 frames. We do not support video ads.

Yes, our team can design graphic ads for you. You can place an order by sending us an email, SMS or WhatsApp message. Our team will work with you on your design needs. See our Graphic Design Terms for details.

In the USA, we accept credit cards and bank transfers.
In India, we accept credit cards, bank transfers and UPI payments.
We deduct the full payment at the time of booking and provide an advance payment receipt. After the ad is displayed (or the service is rendered), we reconcile the services and provide a final tax invoice. If any refunds are due (e.g., you booked 10 slots and we could display only 8), we provide zero-interest store credits that can be used during your next booking. We use various mechanisms to determine whether your ad was displayed. If we determine that it was not, you'll get a store credit as per our Payment Terms.
We make a best-effort attempt to determine if the ad was displayed, but we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy. We do not perform physical verification and do not provide physical proof of display (such as photos). Our ad player sends a message to our systems once the ad is submitted to the display.

When we are unable to serve your requests, we will issue a store credit equivalent to the amount. See our Payment Terms to understand how store credits are processed for various cases.

Approval of an advertisement is entirely in the hands of the host. In some cases, we may approve your advertisement request at our sole discretion, overriding the host. We may also reject your ad if it violates our content policies.

We generally decide between a flat monthly fee or revenue-share per month. With some hosts, we may negotiate different terms. After you register, we review your listing(s) and decide on the payment option. You will be notified by email about the mode chosen. For more information, read our Payment Terms.

You must provide your bank details, tax details and other information applicable to your jurisdiction. Once we have accurate and approved information, we deposit the payout into the payment instrument you provided after deducting applicable taxes. For more information, read our Payment Terms. We pay your share for the previous month's earnings in the current month — for example, in June you'll be paid for May.

Open Settings and tap Bank and tax details. Delete the details you want to change, then add the new details. All pending payments will be paused until the new details are verified — this typically takes up to 3 business days.

You can initiate account deletion from the app. Open Settings and tap Profile — you'll see a button to delete your account. Please note: deleting an account will still retain financial transactions to comply with various laws and regulations. There is no refund for any payment due to you.
